David Mahan Visits Area Schools

CEO of Frontline Youth Communications, David Mahan, was the guest speaker at several area schools May 12th - 16th. Mahan is a motivational speaker that has spent over 10 years educating and informing students about reaching their goals. Mahan spoke to students in grades 7 – 12 at schools including Boulter, Dogan and Moore Middle School; Robert E. Lee High School; Hogg, Hubbard and Stewart Middle School; John Tyler High School; Harleton High School; Elysian Fields High School; Marshall High School, Jefferson High School; Pittsburg Middle School and High School; Tatum Middle School; Mt. Enterprise Middle School; and Carthage Middle School.
As a national motivational speaker, Mahan helps young men understand their role to “protect and provide” while educating young women about the importance of valuing and respecting their bodies. He also educates students about the boundaries of sex and the importance of remaining abstinent until marriage.
Youth in grades 7 - 12 will listen to their peers and become pressured to do something they do not want to do. Mahan helps youth to understand that abusing drugs, alcohol and sex brings consequences. He teaches students how to make better decisions by providing critical thinking techniques through his own life experiences and stories brought to him by other teens across the nation.
Sponsored by the Longview Wellness Center and Region VII, Mahan also conducted parent workshops in Tyler at the Davidson Center on May 13th and in Longview at Bethel Temple Church on May 14th. By teaching parents to stay involved in their teen’s life, parents can have a positive impact. In collaboration with programs like ETAP, parents can volunteer their time or be mentors to stay involved in their teen’s life. On his visit to East Texas, Mahan spoke to several thousand students and parents. His mission to educate students about important life lessons is inspirational for teens being raised in a society full of peer pressure.
